Synopsis.
Black Legacy
Lexi Matthews doesn’t think she is much different from the other students in her Gettysburg, Pennsylvania high school. Even the repressed ability to share mental thoughts with her disabled identical twin sister doesn’t trigger those feelings.
She couldn’t have been more wrong.
When her mother is kidnapped by a powerful undead demon, she and her sister learn of the frightening world that they once believed only existed in mythological stories. As Black Legacy—a society of demon hunters made up of shapeshifters, werewolves, sorcerers, faeries, half-breed vampires, and Black Knights—is revealed, she discovers her heritage where she, like her parents, is a Black Knight, a human granted superior strength by archangels.
Reluctant and scared, the sisters start a new school. Her sister buries her uneasiness in books but Lexi’s stubbornness and impulsiveness make it nearly impossible for her to adapt. Struggling between a lifetime of lies from her parents, fitting in with her supernatural peers, and battling evil first hand, she must balance her heart’s desires for normalcy, childhood friendships, and, more importantly, her on-and-off again boyfriend, Chris Lehman, who is simply an ordinary human. But what if normal and ordinary is all that she can handle? Will she be forced to move forward and join Black Legacy, which is rightfully her legacy, or will she refuse?
Keeper of the Spirits (Book 2)
The Black Legacy story continues three months later in Keeper of the Spirits. Surrounded by supernatural creatures with unique abilities, seventeen year old Lexi Matthews feels the daily pressure of being mundane. She hasn’t met her Black Knight maturity and without it, she has no special power or strength. Failure after failure discourages her, to the extent that she believes the archangels lost their faith in her and revoked their claim to her as a whole. To make matters worse, Lexi discovers her identical twin sister matured.
Adding to her worries, Black Legacy gets a disturbing prediction, which says the society is doomed unless the Keepers—people who control air, fire, water, earth, or spirits—are found and united.
With Black Legacy preoccupied and panicking over the prediction, a powerful undead demon implements a devious trap for Lexi and her sister. Unable to adequately defend herself or any of her family and friends, Lexi knowingly sets out into this deadly trap in a race against time that could end her life. But when she thinks of the alternative—of losing Chris, her boyfriend whom she loves—she knows it is the only choice she has. Will the archangels come through and grant her the strength to defend herself and her beloved or will she fall victim to the plan that the demons had set forth?
